Part-time Lecturer

Wen-jinn Luo, a native of Taiwan, received the Master of Fine Arts degree in dance from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1998). She is currently the artistic director, choreographer, and performer of Scarecrow Contemporary Dance Company in Taiwan.  In 2011, the work The Keyman was selected to be presented in 2011 Festival d'Avignon Off and received "Keyman ... Created Avignon amazing!" review from Reg'Arts by Sofia Bouadan.  In 2012, her work The Keyman‧Dualism was selected to be performed in the 2012 Tainan City Art Festival.  In the same year, her work Singular was hailed by Performing Arts Review Platform as ”the most powerful production of Scarecrow Contemporary Dance Company in 2012.".  In 2013, her work Water of Fall was selected to be presented at 2013 Tainan City Art Festival at Tree House.  In 2014, her work Unbreakable‧City, collaborating with new media artist Lien-cheng Wang, was commissioned by Quanta Arts Foundation and received Creative Technology Crossover Performing Arts Grants from Ministry of Culture.  In 2015, her work Milky, was selected to be in the sponsoring program of the Fourth Pursuit of Excellence in Performing Arts of National Culture and Arts Foundation.  In 2016, her site-specific dance work, Incident Today, was selected to be presented at 2016 Tainan City Art Festival in the 70-year-old cinemas.  In 2017, she created an immersive dance theater work To Be Present or Not at the Place Tainan Hotel for 2017 Tainan City Art Festival and premiered Abyss at the same year.  In 2018, she collaborated with award-winning new media artist Lien-cheng Wang and Australian sound artist Nigel Brown to create the dance work “The Bug”, which got in to 2018-2019 Arts and Technology Experiment Innovation and Counseling promotion plan sponsored by Cultural Bureau.  In 2019, she performed in renown choreographer Shu-yi Chou’s commissioned work for Scarecrow Contemporary Dance Company “Body Map in the Tainan Park -100 Days Strolling”.  In 2020, she collaborated with Musica Lequio Pequeno music director Ching-wei Lin to create the work “Hideout”.
